An aerial view of homes by the sea

Top 10 cheapest and most expensive seaside locations

After something of a washout summer, many of us were treated to the arrival of some warmer weather this week. Which naturally had us dreaming of ways of cooling off that are a bit more glamorous than the office air con.

Our property expert, Tim Bannister, says: “Particularly at this time of year, many people consider what a home by the sea and away from the hustle and bustle of a city could look like, or perhaps explore estate agents’ windows while on holiday.”

So what better time to take a look at some of the locations close to the surf, sand and plenty of spots to grab ourselves an ice cream or two. We’ve looked at the most expensive, and the cheapest, areas if you’re considering a move to the coast.

Nearby Canford Cliffs, also in Poole, was named second on the list, while Milford-on-Sea in Hampshire came in third place.

Steve Isaacs, Director at Luxury and Prestige Realty in Poole, said: “It’s been a positive first half of the year for us, even with mortgage rates staying high and the election called. The areas of Sandbanks and Canford Cliffs continue to be very popular, and prime waterfront properties in Sandbanks have been doing particularly well. For those that can, the lifestyle of living in a beautiful location by the sea will always be appealing and is not to be underestimated.”
