Inside the house that’s narrower than a London bus

We all love looking at amazing castles, grand mansions, and massive manor houses, but just once in a while it’s a small gem that catches our eye.

Like this two-story terraced house in East Dulwich in London, which measures just over eight foot across, less than the width of a regular bus.

But when you take a closer look inside, you’ll see that it actually appears to be rather spacious. Hats off to whoever designed the place, as they’ve done a cracking job.

There are two double bedrooms, a generously sized open plan kitchen/living room, and they’ve even found a way of creating a lovely little patio garden space at the rear, passed the kitchen. And that’s a south-facing garden, too!

We’re told that orginally the ground floor was a workshop, and the top floor was a small apartment built over it. Two years ago, the ground floor was converted, and the whole place merged into the sytlish and quirky home it is now.

Everything’s been refurbished rather tastefully. We love the marble surfaces in the kitchen, the metro tiles in the bathroom, and we simply cannot think of a layout that would have worked better.

It’s quite ideally placed within walking distance of a variety of great restaurants, cafés, and bars in Lordship Lane, and near enough to direct transport links into Central London.

Christopher Burton, Head of Knight Frank’s Dulwich office, said: “This great little house offers a south-facing garden, carefully considered layout and modern design features. It’s ideal for those who have decided to move out of [Central] London following lockdown.”

This property is listed for sale with Knight Frank.
