Sutton Coldfield has a historical connection to the Royal Family dating back to its time as a municipal borough, when it was part of Warwickshire. Since 1974, however, it has been part of Birmingham and the West Midlands County. The town boasts two conservation areas, one of which is the High Street.
Property in Sutton Coldfield ranges from traditional large period houses to new build detached and semi-detached family homes, flats, conversions and bungalows, at a variety of prices to suit most budgets.
The town's shopping mall is ideal for those looking for a spot of retail therapy, with a variety of well-known chain stores, independent outlets and a food court which provides everything for the hungry shopper.
Golf is synonymous with Sutton Coldfield, and the town is home to many good golf courses including the world-renowned Belfry, which is located close by and has hosted the Ryder Cup several times. There is a cricket club and, of course, Sutton Coldfield FC, the town's local football team.
Good Hope Hospital delivers principal hospital services to the town, such as accident and emergency, and Sutton Cottage Hospital also provides a valuable local health care facility.
