Bagillt is a much maligned place in which to live because it is frequently simply forgotten, passed by in a blur as you scurry along the coast road from Flint eager to dip your toes in the water off the playground of North Wales; but to do so is your loss. Steeped in a surprising amount of history and in easy reach of the shops and leisure facilities of Flint, it has much to offer the discerning homebuyer and frequently seems remarkably affordable which is a vital consideration in these difficult times.

A low brick wall backed by a thick covering of flowering shrubs gives privacy to the parking area running the full width of the front of the home. Completely maintenance-free, this is mainly a gravel drive with a small area tarmac in front of the garage and gives space for several vehicles before the drive passes up the side of the home towards the detached garage at the rear.

Entering via the centrally positioned front door we find a refreshingly wide hallway, where a large formal sideboard does not look at all out of place and neither does it get in the way, such is the space available.

Immediately on the left is the door to the first of the bedrooms. Overlooking the front of the home and with a large picture window this is a comfortably proportioned double room with adequate space for all the free standing furniture your heart could desire without ever feeling claustrophobic.

Next door to here, the second bedroom is most definitely a single room, but is none the less attractive for that and represents the compromise demanded by the vast majority of three bedroom homes. However should your needs be met by only two large bedrooms and you are fortunate enough to be able to work from home, you have the perfect office.

Further along the hall towards the rear we find the third bedroom which, like the first is a splendid double with a sizeable acreage of free floor space even when all the furniture is in place. As an added bonus, the rear facing window also provides a view of the charming and pretty back garden.

Adjacent to here lies the family Shower room. This has been tiled throughout very attractively, as pale blue tiles reach up to the dado line with contrasting light grey above, while the suite comprises a pedestal hand basin, lavatory and traditional shower sporting a protective glass side screen to ensure any overspill from the shower above is minimised.

Next we come to the heart of the home: the kitchen. But before involving ourselves further, as we enter here a door to our right reveals the forward facing lounge. This is a cosy and welcoming space where the eye is naturally drawn to the main focal point of the room; the very attractive white faux marble fire surround with the inset still there, but it is non-functional and for display purposes only! However efficient a central heating system may be, I for one never feel truly warm and comfortable unless there is a flame visible. Yes, I know. It's probably a primeval throwback to the days when primitive cavemen lit fires to scare ravenous sabre toothed tigers away from the sleeping tribe, but old habits die hard...

Returning to the kitchen, this is revealed to be something of a triumph of design for it is a good size with everything optimised for space and comfort. This is due in no small part to the way in which it flows through to a further sitting area which also contains additional fitted units, work surfaces and the washing machine & drier. It also enhances the impression of size thanks to the sliding patio door into the garden, and the masses of light this provides. But back to the kitchen itself, this features fitted units to all four sides, with a generous enough space to fit a good sized table and chairs or benches. Needless to say, every labour-saving device is catered for, and space has even been found for a massive American style double door fridge that in spite of its dimensions does not look at all out of place.

Stepping out through the patio door and down a couple of steps, we find ourselves in a positive wonderland; a riot of different colours and textures to delight the eye where the scalloped edges of the central lawn give way to masses of established flowering shrubs and providing cover for various seating areas from which to enjoy the surroundings. At the bottom of the garden is a spacious summer house, the perfect spot for a relaxing drink at the end of a long day, or a long drink after a relaxing day - it's your choice. Behind the summer house is a further storage bin for all the gardening equipment you will doubtless need to keep everything in its current condition.
To one side of the lawn we can access the drive and this is where we find the detached garage, which turns out to be so much more than I expected. Opening the up and over door takes us into a garage that appears a bit shorter than usual but which nevertheless is more the adequate to house a motorcycle and small workshop. At the rear of this space is a door set into a partition wall behind which is Dad's den, where he can indulge his inner fantasies. As an example, this is currently fitted out as a recording studio where any budding Jimi Hendrix can live the dream and, do so without upsetting the neighbours. In short, it is whatever you want it to be and choice is always an enviable luxury.
