To the south is the Cerrano Tower which was an important fortress built in the 1500s as a defence against marauding Turkish pirates. Today, it houses a Marine Biology Laboratory.
For active residents there is the coastal path that can be used for walking, cycling and jogging.
The town-s population of 15,000 has access to all the resort-s facilities including many shops, restaurants, pizzerias, ice cream parlours and bars/caffès. There are also weekly markets that occur each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Pineto has a regular train service to Pescara.
