Description

The Cotton Exchange opened in 1906 and was once the home to Liverpool's thriving cotton industry. There are reminders of its intriguing history to be found throughout the building, from the cotton emblems on Edmund Street to the old granite columns within some of the office spaces.
It acted as the centre of the cotton trading world, with telephones and direct cables stretching as far afield as New York, Bremen and Bombay.

The original ornate facade of the building was removed in the late 1960's to make room for Cotton House. This was replaced with new offices and resulted in the old trading hall being split into two floors. One part has recently been sympathetically transformed into the new home of Morecrofts Solicitors and the other section of the colonnade, which once surrounded the trading floor, with its Norwegian Larvikite columns will soon become home to a restaurant. The statues that once sat proudly above the façade can still be found around the building. Two of them, Navigation and Commerce, are now taking pride of place in the yard at the front of the Morecrofts office and a Portland Stone statue of Liverpool's The River Mersey can be found on Old Hall Street.
Everywhere we look we find a new feature that has been hidden and lost over the years. So, floor by floor and room by room we are bringing the old Cotton Exchange back to life.

In the same way we want to promote collaborative working in the Cotton Quarter, we also want to
encourage a sense of community. We know the importance of networking, whether that means
somewhere to a take a break with colleagues or somewhere to meet clients or like-minded professionals. That's why we created The Old Hall and the roof garden, two utterly unique spaces, designed with our customers in mind.

The Old Hall, on the sixth floor of the Cotton Exchange, is a stunning space with exposed brick walls, original wooden flooring, impressive beams and all of the lighting and AV equipment needed to host any type of event Then there's the roof garden, a tranquil outdoor space where many of our customers go on their lunch breaks or to hold informal meetings during the day. It can also be hired exclusively for private events and adapted to cater for anything from a BBQ and beers to champagne and canapés - the possibilities are endless.

Finally, we know that sometimes nothing less than a traditional meeting room will do, which is
why there are also two smaller rooms available to hire, complete with tea, coffee and biscuits.

Time is of the essence for most businesses and we are continually looking for ways to make your life that little bit easier. We have thought outside of the box with the Cotton Quarter, providing our customer with not only the things they need but the things they want.

The internet has become a huge part of everything that we do and waiting for pages to load, images to render or videos to buffer can be one of life's biggest frustrations. The Cotton Quarter has ultra-fast broadband available to the offices so you won't find a faster internet connection anywhere else in the Commercial District.

Cycling to the office is now more popular than ever before, which is why we invested in brand new shower and bike store facilities, making the morning commute easier and our customer's day a little fresher.

We also understand how hard it is to fit a visit to the gym in around a busy working day, so we brought the exercise to our buildings and we now hold weekly Pilates classes in The Old Hall, which can be booked by anyone from beginner to expert. Our experienced instructor provides all of the equipment needed and classes are held at lunch time for maximum convenience.

We haven't finished with the Cotton Quarter yet, with future plans to bring an artisan coffee lounge and a new gym and fitness studio to the building.

The Cotton Quarter could not be better placed in Liverpool and there are a plethora of useful amenities within seconds of its doors.

Moorfields Station is at the end of Old Hall Street , where Wirral and Main Line services operate or Liverpool Lime Street is only a leisurely 15 minute walk away.

There are also plenty of bus and road links available leading in and out of the city, making life that little bit easier for commuters. Several car parks and on-street parking spaces can be found nearby for those who prefer to drive.

Right outside there are eateries a plenty with bistros, cafés, bars and restaurants or for something a little simpler to take back to the office there is a Greggs, a Tesco and a Sainsbury's too.

The hotels in the area range from budget to boutique, with the Aloft Hotel, Travelodge, Radisson Blu, Malmaison and Hotel Indigo all accessible by foot.

Slightly further afield you'll find Dale Street and Castle Street, where an abundance of restaurants, cafés, shops and banks can be found.

The Cotton Quarter is more than just a base for an office, it's a community and a place to call home. We encourage our customers to grow and expand and will work with them to make it possible.

Anyone taking workspace in The Cotton Quarter will be in good company with a variety of businesses across different sectors as neighbours. From Story, a two-piece PR firm with an
office in the Trading Rooms, to networking specialist Downtown In Business, who have expanded into an impressive light-well suite. As our customers grow, so do their requirements. Take Meet & Potato and Concept 22 for example, they moved into The Cotton Exchange together but less than a year later they outgrew their office and moved into a fantastic suite just across the corridor.
