Los Narejos is a residential area forming part of Los Alcazares. It sits on the edge of the Mar Menor, Europe's largest salt water lagoon and offers 7 kilometres of coastline from Los Narejos itself, to Punta Brava. Being a flat area, it is a popular place for walking and cycling with many bars along the promenade giving a welcoming stop for refreshments or an evening sundowner and tapa. There are numerous cafes and restaurants, including those on the popular 525 walkway, serving many kinds of cuisine to suit all tastes and budgets. With excellent motorway connections, Murcia is 30 minutes away, and Cartagena 25 mins both cities offering a wide selection of art, museums, historical buildings, entertainment and culture. Just before Cartagena is the Espacio Mediterraneo shopping mall which is open every day. The popular La Zenia Boulevard, near Orihuela, is just 20 minutes away and close by in San Javier is the newly expanded Dos Mares shopping centre. Los Alcazares has 2 big street markets each week selling a wide selection of fresh local produce as well as household goods and clothes etc.
There are several hotels with spa facilities in Los Alcazares. The oldest hotel is the Encarnación Hotel right on the beach front. It was built in 1904 and still retains its colonial style and historic elegance.
Bike hire is available in Los Alcazares and Taxis are plentiful. There is a bus route which connects to the main towns of the area. The nearest train stations are in Balsicas - 15 minutes away, or Murcia City.
Roda Golf and Beach Resort is 5 minutes away and there are numerous other top class courses in the area including Serena Golf, Mar Menor Golf Resort, La Torre Golf Resort, Las Colinas, Saurines, Hacienda Riquelme, Peraleja and El Valle.
San Javier airport is a 10 minute drive and Alicante 55 minutes.
