PROFESSIONAL ON SITE MANAGEMENT
Our experienced, professional management and maintenance teams are based on site, and here to help make life easier.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY & SUSTAINABILITY
U&A is constructed from high tech, precast concrete panels, and have high performance double glazing, which means they have a very high level of insulation. The average EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) and EIR (Environmental Impact (C02) Rating is B. EPC's and EIR's operate on a scale of A to G. A higher rating means greater energy efficiency, lower energy bills and less impact on the environment.
U&A HISTORY
U&A is a brand new, purpose-designed development which is made up of two separate buildings - Armouries House and Unity House.
There's very little recorded history of what was once on the site, although it's thought to have been linked with the city's arms manufacturing industry, which was concentrated in Digbeth during the 18th century. In the 1900's, Unity House on the west side of Lower Essex Street was home to the 'Imperial Amateur Boxing Club', after which it was operated as the Rose & Crown pub before becoming the regional headquarters for several trade unions. Hence the Name U&A, which is short for Unity & Armouries

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
I believe this is one of the best location in the center of Birmingham to live. Everything is in walking distance from the supermarkets, restaurants, train station and post offices. Because it is in the busy area of town, you will hear party noises during the weekends for sure but the property has excellent sound proof glasses so that has never been a major problem for me.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Yes! I had a problem with the parking space as one household was assigned a designated parking space but mine was kept being occupied. As soon as I spoke to the management team, they made sure to remind everyone about their parking allocation and provide further instructions for those who owns more than one vehicle. Everything was solved quickly, professionally and efficiently.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
You will get what you see to be honest! And I was extremely pleased with everything from the first viewing day

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
Pros: Location is very good - inside Chinatown. Less than 5 mins walk to local stores like Tesco and some Chinese supermarkets. Plenty of bars nearby. It is close to new street station - around 7-min walk. It is good for professionals who need to commute by train. Cons: Bars are sometimes noisy, especially from Thursday to Sunday. Once the big bin near one of the bars downstairs was on fire and attracted the firemen.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Paul and Salih are helpful and patient to our problems. We are glad to have them in our rental period.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
Don't overrate your tolerance to the noise made by the bars.
Manager's response4Thank you for sharing your feedback about U&A and kind comments about Salih and the rest of our onsite team, who are always happy to help. I hope you'll continue to be very happy here.
