Harbottle is a rural village which lies approximately 8 miles away from Rothbury and is approximately 3 miles from the Scottish Border. Although this is a remote village there is a lot to offer with the fabulous Star Inn pub which serves not only as a bar for socialising there is also a local village shop and a wood fired pizzeria in the courtyard called “Pizzeria La Stella”. Within walking distance to the cottage is the ancient Drake Stone, a mythical place from where there are stunning views over the surrounding countryside and over to the ruins of the 12th century Harbottle Castle. There is also a primary school and health centre. Alnwick is approximately a half hour drive away from the village and offers lots of local amenities including supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, leisure facilities and the ever popular Alnwick Castle and gardens which are famously known for the setting of Harry Potter. Rothbury is a short drive away also offering local boutique shops, pubs and restaurants. There are some beautiful walks around Rothbury including the beautiful Nation Trust's Cragside house and gardens.
