Westhay is a rural village 5.5 miles from Glastonbury and 4 miles from Wedmore. The village has a pub and the local farm shop is just a few steps away. Whilst the neighbouring village of Meare (1.5 miles away) provides a primary school and is also home to a number of historic buildings and landmarks. One of the most notable is the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, which dates back to the 13th century. The church is known for its beautiful stained glass windows and its impressive tower, which offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The prehistoric Sweet Track and Post Track (ancient causeways) run from the village southwards towards Shapwick and the close by is Westhay Moor is part of the mystical Avalon Marshes within Somerset's historic Levels and Moors. The Moors provides a home for rare wildlife and is the site of the stunning starling murmuration throughout the winter months. Nearby is the Peat Moors Centre with craft shop and café.

Nearby Glastonbury attracts thousands of visitors each year to soak up the history and enjoy the array of independent retailers including quality food shops and cafes alongside complimentary health clinics. Glastonbury is steeped in history with legends about Joseph of Arimathea, the Holy Grail and King Arthur. Medieval Glastonbury, now a designated conservation area, centres around the magnificent ruins of the Abbey and once had one of the richest and most powerful monasteries in England. Shopping is also available in Street (Clarks Shopping Village), Wells, the market towns of Somerton and Castle Cary, not to mention the stylish town of Bruton. There are excellent schools both in the state and private sector; St Dunstans in Glastonbury and Crispin School at secondary level in Street. There are numerous primary schools in the area from ones in Glastonbury itself to rural village schools at nearby West Pennard or Butleigh to name a couple. For private schools there is the well-known Millfield School at Street and Wells Cathedral School in Wells, other private schools can be found in Hazlegrove at Sparkford, Kings School Bruton, Bruton School for Girls, Sexeys School Bruton (state boarding) and Sherborne Schools. Mainline rail service from Castle Cary, Bridgwater or Taunton to London (Paddington) in circa 2 hours. Bristol and Exeter Airports are both within about an hour's drive offering connections around the UK and Europe.
