Vendors Insight
Since moving into the house in 2018, we have enjoyed renovating it to suit our needs. Special emphasis was placed on the kitchen – we knew we wanted Neptune units, and as big of an island as the space would allow! The kitchen area is perfect for hosting small and large gatherings – between the no-door entrance way into the kitchen (from the hallway), the double door entry into the living room, and the bifold doors running the width of the kitchen onto the decking, it means you can really customise the space to be as open plan as you like. We have held many a Christmas, dinner party and brunch gathering here, and the space has been perfectly adapted for all. Upstairs is equally interchangeable – of the five bedrooms, we have turned one into a dressing room and one into a gym, but both those rooms have also housed airbeds over Christmas to accommodate additional guests. The master ‘suite’ was renovated to give us more room – we vaulted the ceiling in the bedroom, and took some space to make our perfect en-suite (which is tiled in marble from floor to ceiling). The dressing room just off this, also houses our laundry facilities, which has proved fantastic to have them upstairs!

The garden is wonderfully tranquil, and thoughtfully surrounded by mature trees and hedges (thanks to the original owners of the home who planted these 25+ years ago!) which provides complete privacy (and some delicious plums!). The bulk of our garden landscaping project was done in 2020, when we started to pay more attention to the position of the sun and decided to rearrange the patio to catch as much of it as possible. We added in the decking, as well as the large pergola which sits on top of an above-ground koi pond. The garden was broken into a few different spaces, to ensure that we utilised all areas (the grass for our dogs, vegetable patches to grow, decking to sit, raised decking for the BBQ etc) rather than just a large square of grass.

Living here has been the best of both worlds – it is in a quiet almost countryside like area, but with fast access to the M1 and M25, as well as St. Albans and Hemel Hempstead (both around a 9-10 minute drive away). The adjoining road is lined with fields and stables, so we get the joy of seeing horses trot up and down the road in the morning and evening, and the Leverstock Green shops are an easy 10-minute walk away. The road itself comprises of six houses, which makes it feel exclusive and ‘off the beaten track’, whilst being surrounded by lovely neighbours. We have been lucky to live here for the past seven years, and we hope to pass the house onto the next people who will enjoy it as we have.

Living in Handpost Lodge Gardens offers a harmonious blend of suburban tranquillity and convenient access to urban amenities. Situated in a peaceful residential area, this location provides a serene environment ideal for families and professionals alike. The property benefits from proximity to local parks and green spaces, offering ample opportunities for outdoor activities, beautiful walks and relaxation. Additionally, the neighbourhood is well-served by public transportation, making commutes to central Hemel Hempstead and beyond both straightforward and efficient.

A notable advantage of residing in Handpost Lodge Gardens is its close proximity to St Albans, a historic city renowned for its rich heritage and vibrant cultural scene. This connectivity allows residents to enjoy the best of both worlds: the peaceful ambiance of Hemel Hempstead and the dynamic offerings of St Albans, including its bustling markets, diverse dining options, and historic landmarks. Such accessibility enhances the quality of life, providing a perfect balance between suburban comfort and urban excitement.
