A pretty hillside cottage with views to the hills of Fife

Description

Ploughman’s Cottage is believed to date from 1890 when it was known as East and West Ploughman’s Cottages. Now joined, the old stone cottages have also been extended to form one charming three bedroom home with a wonderful view.

The farmhouse style kitchen is at the centre of the house. It has a dining area which links to the garden room and also to a cosier sitting room which has a wood burning stove. In summer the garden room has incredible views and wraparound glazing. French windows from the garden room lead onto a wrought iron balcony which has steps down to the garden.

The principal bedroom is at the eastern end of the house and has an en suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe/store. Two further double bedrooms and a shower room are located at the western end of the house where there is also a linen cupboard and a laundry/utility cupboard.

Below the garden room and accessed from the garden are two further rooms which are currently used for storage but might work well as office or studio space to suit buyers’ needs.

Outside
Ploughman’s Cottage is approached by a short private driveway which leads to parking beside the house and the garage. Behind the house is a bank of rhododendrons and woodland (not owned), which is filled with bluebells in the spring.

To the front of the house is a terraced garden which is imaginatively planted and broken up by pathways. There are several spots to sit out and enjoy the view in good weather. Beyond the garden is an enclosed paddock which would be ideal for keeping chickens and hobby livestock.

Outbuildings
Tool shed
Double garage served with light, power and water.

Location

Ploughman’s Cottage has a fabulous situation at the end of a country lane where it is both elevated and sheltered. The setting is private and there are excellent views. Ploughman’s Cottage is only seven miles from Perth and access to the A90 is just 1.5 miles away at Glencarse village.

Perth is well served with professional services, shops, restaurants and amenities. It also has a concert hall, theatre, art gallery, museum and cinema. The town’s leisure facilities include the Perth Climbing Centre, The Willowgate Activity Centre, Perth Leisure pool, and two sports centres. Local golf courses include the North Inch Golf Course, Craigie Hill and Murrayshall. Gleneagles and St Andrews are both within 35 miles. The rivers, hills and lochs of the Perthshire highlands and the Angus Glens are all within easy reach to the north and west of Ploughman’s Cottage. Glenshee ski centre is 40 miles north.

Perth train station has regular services to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness and London. Edinburgh Airport is about 40 miles away and there are direct flights from Dundee Airport (20 miles) to London.
