The hamlet of Higher Chilfrome is set amongst the rolling hills of the Frome Valley. The nearby village of Cattistock is 2.4 miles and has a popular public house, The Fox & Hounds, and a village shop. The larger village of Maiden Newton is just 2.6 miles and has a Village Store with Post Office, newsagent and coffee shop, a garage with large shop, hardware store, Primary School, Doctor's Surgery, St Mary's Parish Church, Allotments and Maiden Newton Railway Station with trains to Dorchester, Weymouth, Bath and Bristol. The county town of Dorchester is just over 10 miles and the property is also within easy access of the A37 to Yeovil. Both these towns have excellent shops, schools and mainline railway stations to London Waterloo.
