Description
LIGHT AND SPACE
The couple, who are only the second owners of the property, can still remember the first time they came to view it. “What struck us about the house was its light and airy feel and the generous rooms,” one of them recalls. “We also felt it had a really good flow, with a large, open-plan kitchen that opened into the dining room and the conservatory. I remember also liking the layout upstairs, with all the bedrooms fanning off the central landing.” Since moving in, they have upgraded the property. “We had a new boiler installed and a new kitchen fitted. At the same time, the decking was laid out in the garden, and we converted the window in the dining room into French doors. These now open onto the decking, which is lovely in the summer months.”
THE SOUND OF MUSIC
Entered from the front via a covered porch, the house opens up to reveal a lovely reception hall. From here there is access to a downstairs cloakroom, the sitting room, kitchen breakfast room and an extra reception room. “I started my piano teaching business while living here and this additional room has been a great studio, housing my baby grand piano. It could, of course, have other uses. New owners might choose to use it as a study, snug or playroom perhaps,” she suggests. Double doors opposite lead into the capacious sitting room, with its bay window to the front and doors into the dining room. “This is a lovely, carpeted room, with lots of space for us to enjoy, as well as for entertaining.”
HUB OF THE HOME
Stylish Karndean flooring runs through the rest of the downstairs space, including into the impressive kitchen breakfast room. “This is a wonderful room, with a big island, breakfast bar and ample space for dining as well as cooking,” says the other owner. “It is very modern in style, with light green cabinets and dark composite work surfaces.” The kitchen gives into a useful utility room, as well as the conservatory and dining room. “The conservatory is a nice place to sit, especially in the Summer. We have a television in here so we can sit and watch something while the children enjoy something else in the sitting room.”
FLEXIBLE LIVING
The first floor of the house encompasses the five beautiful double bedrooms. Two of these have en suite bath or shower rooms while a third opens into a Jack-and-Jill bathroom. “This has made it very comfortable for guests to stay,” she observes. “Everyone can enjoy their own privacy.” The bedroom at the front of the house could also make a great study, should new owners require one. Her husband adds: “We also have the detached double garage, which has a side door to the garden. Subject to the relevant planning permissions, this could possibly be converted into an office, games room or even a self-contained annexe. We also have a very large boarded-out loft, should someone wish to look into converting that.”
MANY MILESTONES
The lovely garden has also given them great pleasure. It has been a backdrop to many fabulous family parties and barbecues. On fine days, the owners have also enjoyed strolling over to the picturesque Teardrop Lakes or to Lodge Lake. “These are both a short walk away and are beautiful areas to take children to,” she says. “The location is also perfect for commuters – it only takes 10 minutes to walk to Milton Keynes railway station. We are also in the catchment areas for some excellent schools.” The owners say they will miss everything about the property. “We started our family here, so we have marked lots of happy milestones in this house,” she says. Her husband agrees: “This has been a beautiful family home and we will take with us so many treasured memories.”
