Description
Dating back to the 1800s and in places, Grade II listed, Ox Pasture Hall is a wonderfully picturesque building which has been expanded and developed over the years, more recently and indeed, spectacularly, with the addition of the hugely impressive wedding and function suite and then the stunning Spa building which features seven luxury suites, a 15m pool and six treatment rooms.
The hotel has a reception area, a resident's sitting room and a charming bar lounge with stone walls and a wood burning stove. Providing up to 80 covers is the hotel’s restaurant, which comprises three rooms including a dining conservatory looking out onto the central courtyard which is landscaped with ornamental pond. Additionally, there are two further rooms ideal for private dining as well as smaller, more intimate gatherings and meetings. The catering operation is supported by a huge and very well-equipped commercial catering kitchen with ample cooking, cooling, cleaning, storage and preparation areas.
Ox Pasture Hall enjoys a peaceful and hugely picturesque setting among some lovely countryside which provides some wonderful views from both inside and outside the hotel. Situated on the eastern edge of the North York Moors National Park and close to the stunning Yorkshire Coast, the hotel is superbly positioned to take advantage of the massive tourist trade which visit the area each year.
To the south lies the coastal town of Scarborough, one of the UKs most popular seaside resorts while to the north is the historic town of Whitby, famed for its maritime and literary connections and up and down the coast are a number of delightful coves and villages including Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay and Sandsend.
The region is littered with quaint towns and villages as well as some breathtaking scenery which along with a host of leisure destinations, all help to swell the visitor numbers.
Recently constructed and a fabulous addition to the hotel operation is the hugely impressive wedding and function suite which can seat up to 150 guests and has a capacity of 220 for evening receptions and parties. Boasting its own bar, prep kitchen, storage rooms and toilets, as well as a P.A and music system, security system and air conditioning, the building is adjacent to, but detached from, the main hotel allowing for the hosting and staging of large gatherings without affecting normal hotel functions.
Letting AccommodationIn the main hotel building there are 10 suites, nine with one bedroom and one with two bedrooms, and 22 rooms comprising nine cosy doubles and 13 classic suites. In the spa building there are seven suites, four with one bedroom and three with two bedrooms. The total number of bedrooms is 39.
External DetailsThe hotel sits on a 17-acre site which presents excellent scope to develop the operation either by way of additional letting room accommodation or though the construction of lodges or other income provide buildings, subject to planning permission.
The approach to the hotel provides some lovely lawned gardens with ample parking for even the busiest of times, whilst a driveway leads around past the function suite and spa to the land beyond, which has the potential for development.
The central courtyard garden is a pretty and sheltered place for guests to eat and drink and is mainly lawned with shrubberies and an ornamental raised pond. At the rear of the hotel and enjoying some wonderful countryside views are the main gardens which are also lawned with pathways bordered by dwarf hedging and trellises plus a range of shrubs, mature bushes and trees and covered seating from which guests can enjoy the surroundings.
Spa Building
Constructed at a cost of over £2m and presented to an exceptional standard, the Spa is without doubt the jewel in the crown of Ox Pasture Hall. There is a reception desk and six treatment rooms, a spacious and welcoming relaxation lounge overlooking the patio and a large and very well-equipped gym comprising a range of treadmills, exercise bikes, elliptical trainers, rowing machines and free weights, all of which are owned by the hotel. The 15m heated pool has a large steam room and separate sauna, two six-person hot tubs as well as its own male and female changing rooms and toilets.
On the ground floor are four stunning one-bedroom suites with their own private patio with lovely views, whilst on the first floor are four further equally impressive suites, each with two bedrooms. These rooms are very spacious and well-proportioned and are presented to an excellent standard with limestones flooring and marble wall tiles in the spacious en-suite bathroom and shower rooms.
The hotel is currently closed due to personal reasons with the disposal of the estate being handled by Claire Foster at Revive Business Recovery. We feel that the sale represents a tremendous opportunity for a buyer to capitalise on the huge financial investment of the owner, particularly with regards to the function suite and the spa building reputation, to further expand or develop the site utilising the considerable amount of land available.
Prior to closure, the hotel enjoyed good reviews and had an enviable reputation, and it is hoped that a new owner can restore and improve upon the previous trade levels.
