Having been unoccupied for 35 years, this elegant and prominent village house was bought and restored for the BBC One TV programme, 'Amanda and Alan's Spanish Job', presented by Amanda Holden and Alan Carr (first broadcast on BBC One from 24th January 2025, and on BBC iPlayer).

Double-fronted and on 3 floors, the restored property has retained the original proportions of the original house and many of the features have been retained. Much work has been done on the fabric of the building, including a completely new roof, and there is still scope for the new owner to put their own stamp on the accommodation.

The interiors have been completed with great style, using many traditional materials and techniques, and the bathrooms and kitchen use hand-crafted tiles sourced from the Bert & May factory in nearby Cabra. The property has been finished with a TV programme in mind, reflecting the interior design input of the two presenters, and the result is unique and eclectic.

Ground Floor

The front patio garden is gated and fenced and retains the original floor tiles. Three sets of French Windows open from the patio into the Dining Room/Reception area, a lovely space with lots of natural light and an understated elegance. Stairs lead to the first floor and two archways open into the kitchen.

The kitchen has been completely refitted with a large central island, a chimney breast that houses the cooker and storage in traditional-style cupboards. The tiles are all hand-crafted from Bert & May. Door to the rear patio that, in turn, leads through to the casita and terraces at the rear of the property. There is a WC and boiler room in the area leading to the back terrace.

First Floor

The master bedroom suite is spectacular, with a hand-moulded ceiling that drew inspiration from the Alhambra Palace in nearby Granada; the bed is framed by similar Moorish-inspired mouldings. The French Windows have Juliet Balconies that overlook the main village square. There is a sitting room area, and both this and the bedroom have original tiled floors.

A spacious Jack & Jill bathroom links the master bedroom suite with the adjacent guest bedroom on this floor.

Second Floor

From the top floor landing, double doors open into a lovely, sophisticated living room/bar, reminiscent of a private members' club, with a marble-topped bar at one end. There are Juliet Balconies beyond the French Windows and the views over the village towards the Sierra Nevada are glorious.

The top floor guest bedroom has an open-plan ensuite bathroom with an arabic-style built-in bath, and a walk-in wardrobe/dressing area. Separate WC.

Outside

From the kitchen, there is a service passage through to the rear patio garden. Separate WC and boiler room that needs to be finished, decoratively.

At the rear of the property, the former casita/stable has been restored to provide a lovely first floor terrace and balcony. The two ground floor rooms can be converted to provide an additional bedroom and bathroom suite, or there is the possibility of putting a plunge pool on the first floor and using the rooms below for storage and pool filtration equipment. The patio is completely walled and very private and a beautiful pebble mosaic terrace has been created by a local craftsman, inspired by the famous pebble pavements in Granada. Built-in seating finishes off this pretty area.

The work on this property was all carried out by two teams of excellent local builders and sub-contractors, many of whom we have worked with before on other projects, and the work was overseen by our own architect. All the necessary paperwork is in place with the project's Granada-based lawyers.

This is a unique opportunity to acquire the house that Amanda and Alan restored in the beautiful and historic village of Moclín, the focus of much of the TV programme.
