Description

An exceptional conversion of this former ecclesiastical building which now boasts immaculate accommodation over two floors, blending carefully restored historical features with modern day comforts. The property benefits from three bedrooms and three bathrooms, all fitted with the highest quality fixtures and fittings. Offered to the market with no onward chain.

The Property
The origins of the Church date back to 1903, more recently the property has been extensively renovated by the current owner into an exceptional standard of residential accommodation.  The exterior is a wonderful example of Victorian and Gothic architecture. Internally the owner has been faithful to the building's heritage and historical past, carefully renovating the striking oculus window and the restored alter, and integrating elements required for a comfortable modern life.  A first floor mezzanine level has been installed with two double bedrooms and stylish en-suite facilities.

Every detailed element has been considered with specific attention given to the stained glass windows, handmade bespoke staircase made from the original Church pews, exposed arched beams, decorative coving, handmade cast iron lighting, ironmongery and arched window frames.
The accommodation has underfloor heating on the ground floor, a bespoke oak kitchen with a full suite of integrated appliances, three bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a large private patio area to the rear.

Due to the exceptional nature of the conversion the Church has featured in Caroline Quentin's Derelict Rescue and since completion has successfully been in high demand as a unique holiday let business.

The Accommodation
The property is approached via the original Church front door, into an entrance lobby with Victorian tiled flooring.  An inner door opens into the large reception room which boasts a wealth of period charm and original features. Upon entering the room, a raised plinth made from the original Church pews leads in turn to the bespoke handmade staircase with Italian wrought iron spindles.  To the front elevation are two restored stained glass arched windows and a unique oculus window with circular stone mullions and individual stained glass panes.  At the far end of the room is the restored Church altar with a raised lectern and original wrought iron surround.  The room is flanked by six arched wooden windows and cast iron wall lights.  The decorative moulded ceiling has been created to reflect design elements throughout the Church.

The dining kitchen has a stunning vaulted ceiling which is over 20 feet high and original half height wooden panelling.  The handmade oak kitchen has a quartz worktop and a large island unit with an inset Belfast sink.  Integrated appliances include a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and a Bertazzoni range oven with two ovens and a gas hob.  There is a Victorian fireplace surround and an inset log burning stove set within the fireplace, bespoke handmade arched windows and a door to the side that leads to the outside patio area.

Within this room is a ‘secret’ bookshelf door which provides access to a ground floor bedroom at the rear of the property.  This room has a fitted double bed with storage underneath, a communications cupboard which houses the gas fired boiler, underfloor heating pipework and the high pressure hot water tank.

Behind another secret door is the en-suite shower room which has a walk in shower with rainfall shower head, Burlington sink, WC, heated towel rail and Italian marble flooring.  French doors from the bedroom open out into the patio area to the rear of the property.

On the first floor are two double bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities which lead off the mezzanine landing.  Both rooms have heritage skylights, exposed arched beams and wooden panelling to the walls.  The en-suite facilities have Burlington WCs and sinks set into bespoke curved oak vanity units.  The freestanding copper baths stand on raised Italian marble.

Externally, the property has a low stone wall to the front with a cast iron railing and gate.  An Indian stone pathway leads around to the side of the house to the rear courtyard garden which is paved for ease of maintenance.  The rear garden is a private secluded area with outside lighting.
