CASALCIPRANO - CAMPOBASSO PROVINCE
Casalciprano is a village with Medieval characteristics located in central Molise, nestled on a hill between the Biferno and Rio valleys. The territory is mountainous and its height, above sea level, is 662 metres. The village is small but very well kept.
There is no certain information about the town until the 14th century but interesting to see is the open-air museum of Rural Memory, with statues, drawings and engravings scattered throughout the streets and squares of the village. The surrounding area of Casalciprano was inhabited by farmers who only had small fields to cultivate. They worked on the land as long as there was light. The daily life of poor people was highlighted by two recent exhibitions which showed their beliefs, magical rituals and ancestral wisdom.
The population of 443 is served by a regular train service to Campobasso (30 minutes) or by car (20 minutes). Here you will find all amenities including many shops, restaurants and bars. There is also a restaurant nearby called Casale Cipriano which is only 6 mins (3.5 kms) away.
