Step Inside:

Ground Floor

Upon entering the property, you are welcomed into the grand entrance hall, leading to the inner hall currently serving as the reception area for guests. The ground floor also includes two WCs for guest use. Two distinct reception rooms, each with its unique design, provide inviting spaces for relaxation. The dining room exudes character with exposed beams, original oak panelling, and two magnificent feature fireplaces, one with a wood-burning stove. An oak bar adds to the dining area’s charm. The commercial kitchen is well-equipped with ample storage, shelving units, and workspace, accommodating industrial fridge freezers and ovens.

First Floor

Stairs rise to the first floor, where the majority of the bedrooms are located. Each of the eight bedrooms has its own theme and includes an en-suite with a WC, wash basin, and shower. Most bedrooms offer beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Additionally, the first floor features a ‘Treatment Room,’ currently set up for beauty treatments but easily convertible into another bedroom if needed.

Second Floor

The second floor houses a self-contained apartment, ideal for multi-generational living. The apartment includes a kitchen with a range of wall and base units, a sink and drainer, integreated fridge and freezer, and space and plumbing for a washing machine and tumble dryer. It also features a well-presented living room and dining room, providing comfortable living space, long with a double bedroom and a bathroom equipped with a shower, WC, and wash basin.

Step Outside

Approached via a country lane, Dolforwyn Hall features a tarmac driveway leading to ample parking and turning space. Additionally, the original driveway through the woodland on the other side of the hall can be reopened if needed. Situated in an elevated position on over 4 acres of beautiful grounds, the estate includes a paddock suitable for a small amount of livestock, woodland, and patio areas. Steps lead down to lush gardens adorned with manicured hedges and wellestablished trees and shrubs. There is a patio area perfect for alfresco dining and another seating area offering the chance to enjoy the magnificent countryside views.

Location

Conveniently located along the A483, Dolforwyn Hall boasts a prime position just 4 miles from Newtown, 7 miles from Welshpool, and 5 miles from Montgomery. Each of these nearby towns provides a wide range of amenities, including cafes, schools, shops, and doctor’s surgeries. The Country House offers excellent accessibility to the UK’s major motorway network, with the M54 between Shrewsbury and Telford reachable in under an hour, and the Welsh Coast is also approximately an hour away.

History

Dating back to 1595, Dolforwyn Hall was originally built as a grand country mansion and boasts a rich history deeply intertwined with the local heritage and landscape. Many of its original character features remain intact. In the latter part of the 20th century, Dolforwyn Hall was converted into a hotel, ensuring its preservation and generating income. Today, it operates as a country house hotel, offering visitors the chance to experience its historical charm and scenic surroundings. As part of the local tourism and heritage industry, it attracts guests interested in history, architecture, and the natural beauty of the Welsh countryside.

Seller's Insight

We were first attracted to Dolforwyn Hall as this Grade II Listed house is outstanding in so many ways as is the superb location which is very convenient for local towns, stations, shops, coast etc. The local woodland and countryside are beautiful, and the views are fantastic. The history of the property was another very attractive factor for us. We have many beautiful rooms in the hall but our favourtite is probably the bar/dining room as it is the most authentic and dates to c.1595. There have been many memorable events at Dolforwyn Hall over time – in recent years, we have been enjoying the sheer variety of Guests and their affiliated groups (classic cars, cycling, historians etc.)
