Helensburgh has train stations with services to Glasgow, Edinburgh and a sleeper to London and the town also provides good schooling (both at primary and secondary level) including private education at Lomond School. The area is synonymous with those who enjoy the outdoors, offering some of the most spectacular scenery to be found in the west of Scotland, with the hills surrounding Loch Long and providing good hill walking and outdoor activities.
