Whitwell is situated between the towns of Hitchin and Harpenden. Trains to St. Pancras International, from Harpenden, take just 26 minutes. The village retains a public house, a village shop and post office, doctors’ surgery, and farm shop. It is also a popular location for walkers and there is Emily's tea room on the road out to St Paul's Walden.
