Our client has owned the property since 2012 and is now retired. Kirroughtree House Hotel was the family seat of the Heron Family from the 14th or 15th Century, until the 1880s. It is also believed that the house had connections with both James Boswell and Robert Burns, each of who stayed there as guests during the late 18th Century.

The property is situated in Newton Stewart, a town within Dumfries and Galloway, southwest Scotland. It lies on the banks of the River Cree and is often referred to as the "Gateway to the Galloway Hills". The town is accessed via the A75 which connects Dumfries to Stranraer, Glasgow is around 80 miles north with Edinburgh 105 miles north east of Newton Stewart.

There are several bus routes in operation via Dumfries and Stranraer, the closest train station is located at Barrhill which primarily serves the route between Glasgow Central and Stranraer.
