Location

Upper Rissington is situated in an elevated position within the ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, between the Windrush and Evenlode Valley, combining rural life with the convenience of village life with amenities on the doorstep.

Upper Rissington has recently undergone development providing more housing and a small retail site which includes a new Co-op, pharmacy and gym. The larger centres of Cheltenham and Cirencester provide more extensive cultural, shopping and leisure facilities. The area is known for interesting churches and there are important gardens at Hidcote and Kiftsgate and further afield there is the magnificent Blenheim Palace.

Sporting opportunities in the area are excellent with the Heythrop Hunt, fishing and shooting. There are golf courses at Naunton Downs, Burford and Lyneham. National Hunt Racing at Stratford-upon-Avon and Cheltenham. There are fine walks via an abundance of bridleways and footpaths for the horse riding and walking enthusiast.

The A429 (Fosse Way) provides excellent links to the A40 and M40 as well as the M5 at Cheltenham via the A436. There are regular train services to London Paddington, Oxford and the Midlands from Kingham (5 miles) taking about 85 minutes.
