Description

Situated within the popular village of Aldermaston is this detached family home, offering off-street parking, excellent storage and a large garden that backs onto Aldermaston Park. The house was built in 1950 and is a spacious and modern home with large reception rooms, four good-size bedrooms and excellent potential to extend or remodel, subject to obtaining the necessary consents. A highlight is the bright and airy reception room, which features a wood-burning stove and two sets of French windows opening to the rear garden, providing excellent natural light, and double doors opening to the reception room at the front of the house, which together create a fabulous space for entertaining. The kitchen and dining room are also open plan and are appointed with stylish farmhouse-style cabinetry, a large central island with breakfast bar and a range cooker. Also on the ground floor is a utility room with space for laundry machines and a shower room/WC.

Upstairs the principal bedroom is an excellent size and has built-in wardrobes and an en suite bath/shower room. The remaining three bedrooms share a separate family bathroom and WC.

Outside

6 Church Road sits behind a large gravel driveway accessed via a five bar gate. There is ample parking for several cars and access to a garage which has been partly converted for storage, making it ideal for storing bikes and garden tools. The rear is now a storeroom and could equally be used as a home gym. The lawned rear garden is an excellent size and is south facing, with wooden panel fencing around the boundary and mature trees to the rear. A large, paved terrace provides space for garden furniture and at the end there is a detached summerhouse which could be used as a home office and two timber sheds.

Situation

Aldermaston is a thriving, popular village situated in attractive countryside between the three larger centres of Newbury, Reading and Basingstoke, making it ideal for the commuter. The village has a strong community feel and an excellent range of amenities including a village store, pub, a well-regarded primary school, allotments, a recreation ground and a Hillier Garden Centre. Aldermaston train station is about 1.8 miles northeast in the village of Aldermaston Wharf, with trains to London Paddington within the hour. Nearby, Tadley and Mortimer have more extensive day-to-day amenities and there are good shopping and leisure attractions to be found in Reading and Newbury. The A34, M4 and M3 can be easily accessed for travel towards London and its airports or the West Country. Educational needs are well served, with local primary schools in Newbury itself and the neighbouring villages. There are a good range of independent schools nearby, including Crossfields, Ludgrove, St Neots, Daneshill, Bradfield, Elstree and the highly regarded state and independent schools in Reading. The area is popular with outdoor recreation and there are many footpaths and bridleways exploring the beautiful countryside, including the rolling chalk escarpments of the North Wessex Downs and the National Trust land at The Chase.
