Emsworth Estate Agents

Henry Adams Emsworth Estate Agents is set in a small but busy town on the edge of Chichester Harbour which straddles the Hampshire / Sussex border with the river Ems, with West Sussex to the East and Hampshire to the West. Our office also covers the rural villages of Westbourne and Rowlands Castle on the threshold of the South Downs, as well as Hayling Island with its fabulous beaches and panoramic sea views.

Emsworth and the surrounding area

The sea provides an ideal backdrop to life in Emsworth, with all the activity that it has to offer, and the small welcoming town itself presents a traditional setting and atmosphere that few places on the South Coast have retained. Identified as a Home Town not a cloned Town by a New Economics foundation report in 2005, the town still retains a large number of small independent shops un-spoilt by modern development.

We cover Hayling Island.

Henry Adams have a dedicated service on Hayling Island, a place renowned for its windsurfing and sailing; set between Chichester Harbour and Portsmouth with 6 kilometres of glorious seafront overlooking the Isle of Wight, the Solent and Selsey Bill.

Property in Emsworth, Rowlands Castle, Havant  and Hayling Island.

Owing to the fact that our Estate Agents office in Emsworth covers many of the nearby villages and rural areas, we are able to offer a wide range of properties from rural cottages to water front homes, retirement apartments to substantial town houses. Houses for sale date back from centuries past to modern decades so there's a good choice of homes for any discerning buyer.

Historic Emsworth. Emsworth was once a port and fishing village where boat building was a central industry. Its people used tidal power to grind flour, and the town also became known for not only boat building, but also its oyster beds, rope making and brewing. These traditions, although some now long redundant have made modern day Emsworth the captivating place that it is.

Bars and restaurants.

Emsworth supports a broad spectrum of different pubs, bars and restaurants such as 36 on the Quay, overlooking the harbour, and Fat Olives in a former fisherman's cottage both have enviable reputations, and there are plenty more welcoming hostelries to choose from. Hayling Island has over 50 wonderful bars and restaurants.

Wildlife. The picturesque waterside town of Emsworth lies on the upper reaches of Chichester Harbour and makes for a rewarding spot for nature enthusiasts. Here the River Ems flows through the Brook Meadow conservation area, whilst two tidal millponds attract a wide variety of wildlife.

Emsworth Art Trail.

Although Emsworth began as a small Saxon village, once famous for seafaring industries, it is now the haunt of artistic types. It retains an old world charm, and both local residents and visitors to the area, now enjoy the annual Art Trail that takes place at over 50 venues.

Coastal Living.

Stunning waterside properties surround Emsworth Yacht Harbour; a sailor's haven with renowned sailing clubs such as Emsworth Sailing Club and Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club. For sailing enthusiasts there are a number of Marinas on Hayling Island offering tidal access into the Solent. The Hayling Island Sailing Club built a new club house in 2003, which was inaugurated by HRH The Princess Royal and also have the added benefit of nearby waters often being used as a mock-Olympic track.

Recreation.

Attractions include The Hayling Lifeboat Station, found in the South-East corner of the Island, the renowned Links golf course in the South-West of the Island and the Rowlands Castle Golf Club. The local village Rowlands Castle is home to Stansted House and Stansted House Gardens, which offers a garden centre, farm shop, a maze, a miniature railway and woodland walks.

Emsworth has a wide variety of specialist shops that are truly unique to the area as well as a Co-Op and Tesco's. In fact Emsworth is well known for its diverse range of shops, with the locals claiming it is indeed possible to find just about anything the heart desires and also enjoys the highest shopper approval rating of all the Borough's centres.

Both places have strong connections to London via the A3, which takes around 1 hour 30 minutes by car, and will take 1 hour 17 minutes by train to London Waterloo from Havant station.
