Sellers Insight

The house
Renovating our home has been a wonderful adventure over the past 8 years, while we raised our young family and joined the fabulous Moorland Road community. We have transformed the house, bringing light, colour and new life to this Victorian beauty. Our friends and family often comment on what an incredible difference we have made, creating a home to socialise and host in, as well as a peaceful sanctuary for our family.

The street
Since living at Number 37, we have become verified Moorland Roaders – joining a vibrant and diverse community. We often joke that Moorland Road has everything you could ever need: Two hairdressers, the best fish and chip shop in Weston-super-Mare, a Post Office and well-stocked shop. At the end of the road is a golf club and of course the beach, so close that when the tide is high you can hear the sound of the waves from our garden.

The neighbourhood
Halfway between the beautiful village of Uphill and the vibrant town centre, South Ward is the perfect place to live in Weston-super-Mare. Clarence Park, with its trees, fishpond and café is a natural place to spend an afternoon – for us with the dog and the children. Weston cricket club is also nearby, the perfect place for a summer drink while watching a game. Nearby Whitecross Road has a selection of amenities, including an independent butcher, two supermarkets, vintage furniture shops, and a number of take-away options – Chinese, Indian and Fish & Chips. If you have a young family, there is also a great weekly playgroup at St Paul’s Church, and for dog lovers the beach is unbeatable.

The town
Raising a young family has been an absolute pleasure in Weston-super-Mare. Having the beach at the end of our road has given them a childhood of fun and adventure. There is also a vibrant swimming community, that continues throughout the year, especially at Marine Lake where you can swim at any time of the day. The restaurants are excellent, including French, Japanese, Thai, Indian, Chinese, Italian and Vegan options, many of them award-winning. There is also lots to do outside, including Weston Woods and many lovely Victorian-era town parks. Grove Park in the summer is a particular highlight, with regular music in the bandstand. If you’re into music and the arts, there are three busy theatres that attract touring shows as well as local talent, and several excellent live music venues.

Out of town
Weston-super-Mare sits in a fantastic seaside location, just minutes from the M5 and easily commutable to Bristol, Taunton and Exeter. It is surrounded by the beautiful Mendips, with Mendip Way starting here. To the north, Sand Bay is a tranquil sweep of bay, while to the south you can find the National Trust owned historic Brean Down and the seaside towns of Burnham and Brean. A direct, fast train to London is just over two hours, departing hourly.
