About Divine Home, Portugal

Do you like a property and are you considering purchasing it in Portugal?

With the 7 steps below you can complete a succesful purchase in Portugal:

1. Location - decide the area that you want to be in

2. Properties - make a selection of properties or choose an agency in Portugal that helps you find the right properties. This agent can also accommodate you on all viewings. Always choose an agent with an official AMI-license number in Portugal. We are happy to explain more about the buying service.

3. Viewings - once you have booked your flights, pre-book the viewings for the properties you wish to see. If you choose a buyer agent to work for you, the agent can schedule all visits for you.

4. Offer - when you have found the right property, you put in an offer to come to agreement with the seller

5. Choose the right lawyer - when purchasing in Portugal it is important to have a good, trustable, communicative lawyer. The lawyer is your legal advisor on the purchase.

6. Sign a promissory contract; onceit is important that this contract contains all the necessary conditions for you. When signing this contract the purchase is legally binding under the conditions of the contract. In the contract the date for the title deed at the notary is mentioned; this is the moment where you will receive the keys and become the owner of the property.

7. Title deed - before going to the notary to sign for the title deed, it is advisable to check the house on the day of the title deed and write down the meter readings to have all utility contracts being transmitted from the vendor to yourself. This avoids being disconnected which can take 2-3 weeks to get connected again to water or electricity.
