Description

Architecture & Interior

The apartment is found at ground floor level. Head round to the front door which opens into a light filled, minimally styled open plan reception holding on to features that reflect its industrial heritage. Exposed brick work and old timber beams are a marvellous pairing with the retro fitted oak floor which fills the floor area and crisp contemporary decor resulting in a sophisticated and elegant space.

A magnificent view of the Thames is framed at one end of the reception through an attractive, time worn brick framed arched window.

At the opposite end of this split floor portion of the apartment, descend a few steps down, and a dining area invites you through to the bright open kitchen which combines glossy cabinetry, solid wood countertops and chic tiling both on the walls and floor.

Two double bedrooms sit at the rear of the apartment, both enjoying exposed brickwork and timber floor that continues through from the reception area. The tranquil view of St Mary's Churchyard can be viewed from the principal bedroom at the apartments upper level.

In between this, a sizable shower room dressed with fully tiled walls and contrasting floor with a hint of Moroccan influence completes the chic internal space.

Outside

One secure off street parking space is included with the property.

In The Neighbourhood

There’s a palpable sense of community that circles this hidden pocket of SE16, it’s coveted by the people who’ve settled here and rightly so, maybe it’s the peace and quiet, it’s rich London history or ancient architecture.

With few roads leading directly into the area surrounding Hope Wharf, the end result is minimal road traffic. It’s become a mecca for walkers, cyclists and runners who take advantage of the clear pathways that pass the building running east to west along the river heading towards Tower Bridge, Borough and Bermondsey.

Social haunts are close at hand. You can’t talk about this part of town without mentioning the Mayflower Pub. This atmospheric establishment is over 400 years old. Rub shoulders with locals and a fair share of tourists who’ve arrived to savour the seasonal menu and traditional ales served up.

Head across the picturesque St Marys Churchyard to the Watchhouse Cafe, a popular, small independent coffee house open most days where you can pick up a fine coffee, pastry or sweet treat.

When you’re after a faster pace night out, head further along to Shad Thames, anywhere around Borough or Bermondsey Street and the South Bank. Take your pick for restaurants, bars and pubs that cater for all food preferences and budgets.

Culturally, The Tate Modern sits at the heart of an area that offers so much for anyone looking to occupy themselves at both the weekend and evenings. The obvious choice is the foodie paradise of Borough Market but theatres, music venues, historic tours and alternative educational facilities can be sought out, the likes of which include furniture restoration and many other artisanal courses.

Transport & Connections

The closest station is Rotherhithe. From here, Clapham Junction, New Cross can be reached to the south via Canada Water (for the Jubilee Line) or East to a number of significant stops which include Shoreditch High Street, terminating at Highbury Islington to connect to the rest of the overline network.

Just a few minutes on foot will drop you on Jamaica Road to catch regular buses running to London Bridge and beyond into central London.
