Description

An imposing Victorian detached family home situated in private gardens in a desirable active village.

Description

This imposing detached family home dates back to the mid-19th century, and was built by the Reeves family which owned the foundry formerly situated on the recreation ground. Once known as The Beeches, the property remains true to its original build; however over time it has gone through some updates, additions and improvements while still retaining its period charm, as seen in the original fireplaces upstairs and the encaustic tiled hallway.

The property is situated on a quiet road set behind an established tree-lined hedge which affords a great deal of privacy. The grounds amount to about 0.85 of an acre and the spacious accommodation arranged over 2 floors amounts to just over 3,700 sq ft.

On entering the property there is a generous and welcoming entrance hall with stairs rising to the first floor. There are twin reception rooms on either side used as the drawing and dining rooms respectively. The drawing room has an impressive fireplace and a dual aspect outlook over the gardens. This is replicated in the dining room. The heart of the home is the kitchen breakfast room that opens into an impressive garden room. The kitchen is hand-built and well-equipped with ample space for a breakfast table. The garden room boasts tall glazed ceilings and is bathed in glorious natural light. There are also French doors that open out into the gardens. On a practical note there is a cloakroom, utility room and access via stone steps down to the cellar (ideal storage space). There is also a back door leading out to the side and rear of the property. For a growing family and away from the principal receptions is a spacious family room. For those wanting to work from home, there is also a useful study.

On the first floor are the bedrooms. There are six good size bedrooms in total and 4 bath/shower rooms. The principal bedroom has an en suite bathroom with a walk in shower and a bath; there is also optional access to the landing. The guest bedroom is also an en suite. There is also an external staircase leading to the first floor.

Gardens and Grounds

On entering the property via wooden double gates there is a gravel driveway that leads to the front of the house where there is parking and then on around to the side and rear of the property to the double integral garage with up and over door and the large (37'7"x19'7") garage/workshop.

The gardens amount to just over 0.85 of an acre and are established with level lawns, well stocked flower beds and specimen trees. They afford a large degree of privacy and are ideal for young children or pets to explore. The garage/workshop area is ideal for the classic car enthusiast or could be re-purposed into something else to suit your needs (subject to the necessary permissions).

Overall this gorgeous family home is well placed in this active village for any family to enjoy with space to grow and privacy to be appreciated.
