The surrounding countryside is some of the prettiest in the county, with the Howardian Hills and Castle Howard around 5 miles away, and the rolling countryside of the Wolds and Yorkshire coast to the east.

The historic City of York (around 12 miles away) is easily accessible and has a wide range of amenities to offer such as fine dining, shopping and historic sites such as York Minister. There are also a wide range of secondary, state and independent schools to choose from.
