HISTORY The High Street was in its time considered to be one of the finest streets in the country, with a wide variety of quality shops and thriving businesses. The first recorded occupant in this fine city residence was Captain Sir Francis Hartwell, however, we understand before the end of 1788, No.60 started it's new life as a bank. In November 1818 the bank declared bankruptcy, but the banking history of the house did not end there and it continued as a bank until 1888 being taken over in 1903 by Lloyds Bank, who continued to use the High Street branch until 1920. Even after the High Street was partly destroyed by enemy bombs in January 1941, No.60 remained as a bank until 1956 when a new bank was built further up the High Street.

The building was once more back to being a private house and was divided into two, of which No. 60 occupies the reception level and first floor with use of the lower ground cellar rooms.
No. 60 stands in a prominent position on the north-east corner of Grand Parade where it meets with the High Street, it still shows parts of its history with the feature strong room with steel doors and feature vaulted ceiling in the drawing room, cellar rooms and high elegant ceilings, it is now a stunning and iconic Grade II Listed apartment arranged over two primary floors.
