Both houses were rebuilt and renovated using the original stones, retaining the character while providing modern facilities and interior design, now including infinity swimming pool, and substantial loggia within secluded grounds and having small adjoining orchard. There are being sold fully furnished and equipped either as substantial extended family homes or for holiday business as sufficient high quality linen and equipment was purchased for this purpose and is included in the sale.

House 1, total areas of 134 sqm: Entered through garden the sitting room is 42sq.mts with high beamed ceiling and polished wood floor, having large raised corner fireplace, three down lit alcoves from original house and French windows opening onto a substantial terrace with breath-taking views across the sea to the Peloponnese and Corinth. From this terrace there is an external stair to the swimming pool terrace but as throughout the houses there are safety features for children. The sitting room has a double bed/settee and the possibility of another double or two single beds with the existing furniture.

“Winter Room” Stairs from the sitting room with newel post of the original olive beams gives access to this room used as a dining room. It has storage or a child’s bed under the stairs, a wood burning stove and full height dresser. All of the ground floor is tiled. There is access from the winter room to a double shower room and the kitchen and main bedroom. Shower room/Toilet This a double shower, double sinks and extra-large double mirror. The houses are at about 500ft above sea level and are half kilometre from the sea with spectacular views of 30 miles across the Saronic Gulf/Aegean towards Corinth. There is land access to mainland Peloponese from Methana a drive of about two and a half hours to Athens. There are ferries from Piraeus during the summer months, and hydrofoils from Poros. Methana is a haven for yachting with a substantial public quay and protected harbour.

Absolute quiet, and absence of light or noise pollution makes the property ideal for holiday lettings, a Yoga, or similar therapeutic retreat. Easily accessed from Athens and offered for sale fully equipped.

LOCATION
The Peloponnese is full of undiscovered magic - a kind of magic that hides in out-of-time and off-the-beaten-track places such as the volcanic peninsula of Methana. With its more than 30 craters Methana is the north-westernmost of the arc of Aegean islands that still feature volcanic activity. Methana was born as an island a couple of million years ago but became connected to the mainland of the South-East Peloponnese by a narrow isthmus that rose up from the sea during one of the many eruptions and accompanying earthquakes. The volcanic island now sleeps the sleep of a Sleeping Beauty, allowing visitors to discover impressive lava domes and craters, age-old man-made terraces, archaeological sites, tiny fishing villages, thermal baths, and amazing views on the surrounding Saronic Gulf. Approaching it on the main road from Archaia Epidauros to Galatas we are able to admire Methana's mysterious silhouette bordering the South-Eastern part of the Gulf of Epidauros. The archaeological site of Troezen, the wetland of Psifta, the town of Galatas and the island of Poros all lie within a stone's throw from the peninsula. Connected by ferry to Methana are the island of Aegina and the harbour of Piraeus (Athens). Even the island of Hydra is not that far away as there are ferries from and to the hamlet of Metochi on the mainland, a 40 minute drive by car.
