Description

This fine historic, handsome building, built around the 1840's and carefully developed and completely restored just 4 years ago to provide you with the fine home you find here today. Built in the 1840's, it was originally built as a luxurious private house before becoming a hotel at the end of the 19th century.

It became an insurers office in 1940 and was also used by Malvern Hills District Council in 1974. So an illustrious pedigree for sure. It was returned to its original beauty and 12 fine apartments were created,

The Portland is much envied as a place to live because the building is impressive and grand. The apartment has wonderful proportions and sits in a very in demand central and enviable location within Great Malvern, with its easy access to the theatre, Waitrose and plethora of independent coffee shops, cafes and restaurants all a few minutes walk in any direction.

No 9 gives you the best of all worlds in that it is located on the first floor, (there is a lift which is handy) and it has a real feeling of space, light and height. There is nothing pokey and disappointing here and it really is a pleasure to find that the space is excellent, coupled with the grand ceiling height, attractive arched sash windows and period features that remain.

The layout is thoughtful with the bedrooms at one end with the bathroom and separate cloakroom and then pop down the hallway to the grand 23 ft sitting room with its open plan high end fully fitted kitchen, tall ceilings, fine arched windows that are south facing and enjoy leafy views across Great Malvern.

We continuously get asked for central Great Malvern locations which is why I am delighted to be bringing this gem to the sales market. It ticks so many boxes and is the perfect choice for those wanting to be in the centre of town, able to enjoy walking literally everywhere. You will be the envy of your friends and find that your 2nd bedroom is constantly in demand!

A small well behaved pet is allowed as long as said pet is tidy and clean!

The owners bought the apartment as an investment property but now wish to sell it to someone wanting to make their home here. Most apartments here are owner occupiers and there is a real feeling of camaraderie and good will.

No. 9 The Portland is situated in highly sought-after Great Malvern, most frequently requested by people wanting a traditional Malvern home in what is considered to be, and in my opinion is one of the BEST locations. Just a few minutes walk to the renowned Malvern theatre, Waitrose, cafes and independent shops, with leafy parks to stroll in and enjoy.

Malvern is a safe and beautiful town with an abundance of quintessentially British charm steeped in culture. A designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the spectacular Malvern Hills providing a glorious back drop, you will find this so much more than just a place to put down roots.

Here you will find independent boutiques, outstanding restaurants, pubs, cafes, a range of supermarkets including Waitrose, Splash leisure complex and a variety of gyms to join, art classes to engage in and plenty to keep you busy and get involved in.

A favourite of mine is Faun Cafe on the Worcester road, excellent for brunch and the best cinnamon buns baked daily and also the Nags Head, a real locals pub in which to have a drink and chat and where dogs are most welcome for some watery respite!

The Malvern Theatre is a real pull, located in the Winter Gardens complex in the town centre of Great Malvern and has been a provincial centre for the arts since 1885. It is a model of artistic and architectural excellence and boasts a diverse programme and great selection of events throughout the year. A great distraction in those winter months to keep you occupied and see first class productions, operas etc.

For those who love walking and cycling the magnificent Malvern Hills are literally on your doorstep and there are easy paths to navigate to get to the top and enjoy the panoramic views. People in Malvern are fit!

Some of the finest independent, primary and secondary schools are located in Malvern including Malvern College, Malvern St. James, The Downs, The Elms, The Chase High School and the Wyche Primary.

The ever popular Three Counties Showground offers a variety of events throughout the year including festivals, food, gardening, agricultural, entertainment and so much more..

Malvern has excellent links by road and rail: Great Malvern train station is only a few minutes walk away with direct links to Worcester (10 minutes), Birmingham (1 hour) and London Paddington (2 hours 15 mins) with Junction 7 of the M5 a short drive away. Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Broadway, Bristol, Cardiff and Birmingham all readily accessible.
