Langton Way is a leafy, unmade lane with the Heath at one end and Blackheath Standard at the other. Chances are you’ve passed it several times without ever knowing it’s there. It’s a hidden gem of a road with many different styles of architecture, giving it a truly unique feel.

This spacious single storey home is one of the most secluded and secure on the private road. A cobbled drive, single garage door and wooden gate are all that is visible, giving you no hint of what is behind.

Passing through the gate you walk under a covered passage into a leafy south-facing walled courtyard that leads to the front door. This is a tranquil spot, recently landscaped to include a Beth Chatto-inspired gravel garden with low maintenance grasses and flowers.

Walking through the front door, the interim lobby leads you into the spacious open plan living room and dining area. Here there are sliding glass doors leading on to the courtyard which fill the house with light.

The living area is at the heart of the home, with everything connecting back to this sociable space. Light floods in not only from the sliding glass doors but also from a skylight and through a Japanese courtyard with a mature acer in the centre.

There’s an open plan kitchen off of the dining area - perfect for family life or entertaining and there’s even a handy utility room with further storage.

To the front of the home and just off the entrance hall there’s a private study or studio space - ideal if you work from home or have a creative hobby. This also leads to the built-in single garage.

This versatile bungalow will need little touches of modernisation to bring it into the 21st century but you won't want to alter the gorgeous original parquet floor. It’s laid throughout most of the home - with only the bathrooms, dining area and kitchen having alternative floor tiles.

All three double bedrooms are at the rear of the home and each has its own ensuite. Two have direct access through French Doors to the secluded leafy 80ft (20m) back garden.

This outside area is a blank canvas waiting for someone with green fingers or a flair for design to make it their own. As it is, you will find a paved seating area nearest the house and a large lawn with mature trees and shrubs. In the middle there’s a Summer house and at the end there’s a sunny paved patio perfect for BBQ’s, entertaining or just enjoying a bit of peace.

With the private courtyard, Japanese garden and large back garden you’ll have no shortage of outside spaces to enjoy. But it’s nice to know the Heath is at the end of the road and Greenwich park is a short walk away too.

There’s such a surprising amount of space on offer, even when it comes to parking - the cobbled drive at the front has room to park several cars.

With all the nearby amenities you may find that you often choose to leave the car at home. It’s just over a five minute walk to Blackheath Standard where you’ll find a selection of local independent shops, the Royal Standard gastropub and M&S Food so you can grab something quick for dinner.

If you need a wider selection of shops, cafes and restaurants Blackheath village is just across the Heath offering an array of independent shops, cafes, and restaurants. Sunday mornings can be spent at the Farmers Market in the station car park to enjoy fresh food and some fresh air.

We mentioned Greenwich Park is a short walk away. There you can find the Royal Observatory, the Maritime Museum and in the summer the boating pond. There’s easy access from there to Greenwich with its restaurants, markets, theatre and cinema.

For hassle free commuting, Blackheath station is nearby and serves as a pivotal transport hub, providing regular services to key destinations including London Bridge (less than 20 minutes), Charing Cross, Cannon Street, and London Victoria. Maze Hill and Westcombe Park are also a short stroll away.

You can change for the DLR at Lewisham to go into Canary Wharf or head east to Woolwich Arsenal where the DLR will connect you to London City Airport and the Elizabeth Line can take you directly to Heathrow Airport.

Langton Way also has its own society, they work hard to arrange several events each year including a Summer Barbecue and Christmas soirees.

There are a great choice of state and private schools, including the Pointer School, John Ball, Blackheath Prep and Blackheath High School. Slightly further afield in Lee there’s Colfe’s School and then in Kidbrooke there’s Thomas Tallis.
