Hikers and cyclists will be spoilt for choice by the unspoilt landscapes surrounding the Montagne Noire and the Voie Verte Passa Pais, a 75 km section of the former Tarn-Hérault railway line that has been converted for safe walking and cycling between Bédarieux and Mazamet. The route is just a few metres from the house.
Labastide-Rouairoux has a weekly market, as does the neighbouring town of Saint Pons de Thomieres, capital of the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut Languedoc, which dates back to the Stone Age, as evidenced by its prehistory museum.

Labastide also boasts a textile museum, demonstrating the wealth of know-how and industrial heritage of the Tarn, as well as the textile epic that made the village famous.
In the hills, just 30 minutes away: the Plateau des Lacs, an invaluable cool stop-off point! The Minervois and Saint Chinianais vineyards are less than half an hour away, and the Mediterranean beaches less than an hour and a quarter.
