Owners Comments
Having lived in our cottage for 23 years, we very reluctantly realise the time has come to downsize and hand over to someone who will love it here as much as we have.
Our favourite room is the kitchen/diner which we had extended around 8 years ago. In summer, the bifold doors opening onto the patio and the amount of light that streams in make it a wonderful room to enjoy. In winter, the underfloor heating and warmth from the Rayburn make it cosy. Once the evenings draw in, to close the curtains and light the log burner in the living room really enhance the character of the cottage.
The garden was completely landscaped by a local firm and we have had wonderful family parties, hog roast birthday celebration, together with a charity fund raising garden party outside. If you have dogs, the garden is ideal and completely secure.
The transport links - railway to Liverpool Street and the bus stop outside with buses to Burnham, Maldon, Chelmsford mean we are not isolated.
There are plenty of clubs for children & adults in Southminster - bowls, football, FOSCOS voluntary group (Friends of Southminster Community Open Spaces), the Dengie women’s club to name but a few. There is also a weekly Tuesday morning market in Burnham for fish, cheese, bread etc.
Property Description
Inside, the cottage seamlessly blends period charm with modern comforts. The recent addition of a stunning kitchen/diner, featuring a vaulted ceiling, creates a spacious area for both food preparation and entertainment. Complete with a central island, an impressive range of fitted units, and a 'Rayburn' range cooker/gas boiler, this extension is bathed in natural light. The full-height windows overlook the gardens and bi-fold doors open onto the rear brick paviour patio, creating an ideal space for socialising and dining, regardless of the weather.
Entering through a side doorway into the welcoming hall, which provides access to the 29' lounge, shower room, cloakroom with a high-level WC, and a ground floor bedroom with French doors opening to the garden. From the lounge, two stairways lead to the first-floor bedrooms—one of which doubles as a study—while the other comprises a dressing room with fitted wardrobes and a separate bedroom area.
The grounds boast a large workshop and detached garage, which is of small double size, both accessible via the gated driveway. A charming summer house is sited within the manicured circular lawn and provides a cosy spot to enjoy the morning sun.
This unique and well cared-for home has undergone significant improvements over the years by its devoted owners and an early internal viewing is highly recommended to fully appreciate the charm and character this property has to offer.
