General Description
Johnston Lodge is one of Anstruther's most prominent historic houses, which was converted into three apartments by the National Trust for Scotland in the 1970s.

It was the home of Princess Titaua Marama, Chieftess of Haapiti, Tahiti and her husband George Darsie in the late 1800s. Flat A offers a blend of elegance, heritage and contemporary luxury. Flanked by magnificent stone pillars, a gated driveway leads to the stunning façade and charming shared entrance. The main door to the apartment then opens into a breathtaking hallway adorned with duck-egg blue walls, parquet flooring, and an ornate ceiling moulding. Two large hall cupboards, one of which is plumbed for a washing machine, offer generous and flexible storage space. From here, you enter the south-facing living room, which is sophisticated and inviting. Spectacular bay windows with exquisite carved and painted pillars flood the living room with natural light, while the tasteful neutral décor, including carpeting, adds warmth. The living room and dining room offer expansive sea views over traditional crow-stepped gables across the Firth of Forth, from the Bass Rock and Berwick Law in the East to Edinburgh and the Pentland Hills in the west. An archway with a beautiful surround connects the living room to the adjoining dining room, creating an expansive living and reception area. Featuring a similar crisp and fresh décor to the living room it is perfect for formal entertaining. Across the hallway, the contemporary kitchen is design-led, showcasing white gloss handleless wall and floor units, sleek black granite worktops, and high-spec integrated appliances, including an induction hob, ceiling extractor hood, and eye-level grill and oven. The result is a streamlined and aesthetically appealing space. Flooded with natural light from a large sash and case window overlooking the landscaped grounds, the double bedroom is an attractive space enhanced by built-in wardrobes and a sympathetic interior design. Completing the ground floor accommodation, the luxurious bathroom features a large walk-in rainfall shower, freestanding bath, hidden cistern WC, washbasin built into a vanity, and matte flat panel grey radiators. Returning to the shared entrance hallway you descend to the lower ground level and the self-contained guest suite, comprising a south-facing carpeting sitting room with a spacious layout and serene interior. Adjacent lies a stylish double bedroom enhanced by a well-appointed en-suite shower room with hidden cistern WC and washbasin built into vanity.

EXTERIOR
