Description

Corn Dolly is traditional narrowboat with a mooring at Bristol Marina. It is a compact 34 foot vessel which offers comfortable living space for up to two people.

The Bristol Marina mooring offers amazing city centre amenities: a car park, a shower block, and a secure, attractive mooring for £361 a month;

The Bristol Marina has gated access and parking. The modern facilities include a modern shower & toilet block and laundry area. The marina has a lively community spirit and this traditional barge comes with its own mooring (subject to Bristol Marina application process & references), which is a rare thing as there is a waiting list for moorings in the floating harbour. Marina fees are approximately £361.00 per month for this vessel - check out Bristol Marina for exact costs as this varies depending on how much you pay upfront or yearly - council tax, water rates or service charges.

Walking distance to Bristol city centre and the harbourside with its bars, restaurants, theatres, cinemas and music venues.

The marina has a no pet, or children policy. Central Harbourside location and walking distance to all the amenities in this great city.

Internally Corn Dolly has a galley kitchen with sink, fridge, gas water heater and gas stove. It has a toilet and shower room incorporating a cassette toilet. The main body of the boat has two bench seats with a dining table which transform into a 6 feet wide bed. There is storage space under the beds and in the galley kitchen.

The narrow boat has a fully functional diesel Lister engine which means that it was built before 1972 but we know nothing about the builder. It has been moored at Bristol Marina since the 1990;s and we know the three previous owners since that date.

Corn Dolly has a steel hull, The cabin is constructed on ash frames with tongue and groove followed by marine ply and a fibre glass finish. In 2020 The Bristol Classic Boat Company took Corn Dolly out of the water, cleaned the hull and added new magnesium anodes. New marine plywood and fibreglass was installed wherever there was evidence of any deterioration. New double glazed windows and rear door were installed.

In 2017 the internal lay-out was reconfigured to provide a galley kitchen with the Palermo gas water heater, Russel Hobbs 240 volt fridge, gas hob and oven. The gas and water plumbing was undertaken by a qualified marine installer. Also in 2017 the boat was professionally re-wired to provide the 12 volt and 240 volt circuits. Two new batteries and a solar panel with inverter were installed.

Sellers Insight
Paul and Margaret purchased Corn Dolly in 2017 when they were looking after their newly born grandchild who was living in Bedminster. They recall “Each week we drove over 50 miles to Bristol and stayed three nights on Corn Dolly looking after our grandson by day and by evening enjoying the music, cinema, theatre and restaurants that the city centre offers”.

When we were looking after our first and then second grandchild we would often visit the local playgroups and parks in Bedminster, the M Shed or the Aquarium and then return to Corn Dolly for lunch, playing with jigsaws, Duplo, drawing and Playdo and hopefully a post lunch nap. Paul and Margaret are now offering the boat for sale because their grandchildren are now in school.

We think Corn Dolly might suit a couple like Paul and Margaret who want a city centre residence for at least part of their week. It might also suit a single person who is a student or is beginning a city centre career.
