This Villa is located on the top of a hill overlooking the "trade mark" of Corfu, The Pontikonissi islet, which is situated 250 meters away to the sea.

This Villa is the first property that housed the Durrell family when they first came to Corfu. This was the villa where the book by Gerald Durrell "My family and other animals" was inspired.

The current owner has renovated the villa in a combination of modern and classical style and added a swimming pool. There are extensive paved areas around the houses providing plenty of useful space for outdoor living.

The house measures 260 square meters and features 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms of which, 3 are en-suite. The ground floor is consisting of open plan dinning/living area with an open fire and doors leading out to the garden and the swimming pool. Double glazed windows, and central heating have been added after the renovation of the property for better living.

There is a regular bus service from the area to Corfu in a 5 minutes walking distance from the villa. Perama has 2-3 restaurants, a mini market and in a 10 minutes walking distance is Kanoni area with the nice sea views and cafeterias.

In the same plot, there is a small complex comprising of 4 studio apartments, each one measuring 25 square meters, ideal to house friends and guests.

The area is called Perama, and is just a 15 minutes drive from Corfu town.The nearest beach is Benitses with its marina which is 5 minutes driving from the house.


Benitses beach
Benitses beach is a small beach covered with sand and gravel with clean waters and is located in front of the homonymous, famous resort on the eastern coast of the island. The beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag by the European Union. It is organized and offers a variety of sea sports.

The most special characteristic in Benitses beach is its sea bed where, the aquatic plant Posidonia is in abundance. This plant has the property of filtering the water from harmful substances. It is proof of a clean sea and of a balanced environment and it only grows in the cleanest waters of the Mediterranean.

It was in Benitses beach that the famous Kaiser, the German emperor Wilhelm II used to take his swim. In order to go directly to the sea, he had had a bridge built starting from his Achillion palace, the famous Kaiser Bridge which you will find on the road just before you enter the settlement.

The main road is located above Benitses beach where, you will find many super markets, coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Near the beach there is a small harbor where many touristy and fishing vessels anchor.
