We are required by law to conduct anti-money laundering checks on all those selling or buying a property. Whilst we retain responsibility for ensuring checks and any ongoing monitoring are carried out correctly, the initial checks are carried out on our behalf by Lifetime Legal who will contact you once you have agreed to instruct us in your sale or had an offer accepted on a property you wish to buy. The cost of these checks is £60 (incl. VAT), which covers the cost of obtaining relevant data and any manual checks and monitoring which might be required. This fee will need to be paid by you in advance of us publishing your property (in the case of a vendor) or issuing a memorandum of sale (in the case of a buyer), directly to Lifetime Legal, and is non-refundable. We will receive some of the fee taken by Lifetime Legal to compensate for its role in the provision of these checks.

SITUATION:

The property is set amidst other period properties a short walk from the town centre and within a Conservation Area.

Witney is a thriving market town on the edge of the Cotswolds approximately 10 miles to the West of the dreaming spires of Oxford and dates back to AD969. Its location on the banks of the River Windrush led to the manufacture of high quality blankets known the world over until the last mill was closed in 2002 and incorporated into a well-designed housing development.

Some manufacturing remains and the town is home to Christy & Co - hat makers since 1773 to people such as the Royal family to Don Corleone in the Godfather films! Much of the town's fine architecture reflects the wealth of the woolen trade in its heyday and the rich variety of shops, street cafes, and excellent sporting facilities coupled with higher order services that include a hospital greatly add to the quality of life. The Market Square hosts a traditional market every Thursday and Saturday and a Farmer's Market on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. When it comes to eating and drinking Witney has plenty to offer with more than 40 venues to choose from. In the Windrush Leisure Centre you will find swimming pool, squash courts, gym facilities and sports hall whilst The Leys is a big open space with cricket & football pitches, bowling green, tennis courts and a children's playground. The town has a number of nurseries, primary schools and two excellent comprehensive secondary schools. The town was once selected by The Sunday Times newspaper as one of the best places to live in Britain!
