Description

Nestling in 0.1425 of an acre is this Grade II Listed Georgian residence built in 1749. It has been sympathetically refurbished and updated but retains period features including panelled walls and doors, coved ceilings, dado rails, high skirtings, original wood flooring and fireplaces. It has two garages and two parking spaces at street level and a gate that leads up through the front garden to the entrance. With its exterior ‘dolls house' symmetry, multi-pane sash windows, Kent peg tiled roof and high chimneys it has delightful external appeal.

The dual aspect drawing room has French doors to a secluded courtyard, an ornate fireplace with an open fire and a wide arch flanked by a pair of pillars. The triple aspect modern kitchen includes an inset range cooker, shaker style units housing various appliances, a central island breakfast bar, a seating area and access to the courtyard. There is a wide archway to the dining area with concealed sliding doors and an attractive fireplace. The vast basement includes two store rooms and a wine store but could provide additional accommodation.

Upstairs there is family shower room and a dual aspect library with an attractive fireplace and gas fire and a landing with original wood flooring that continues into the two double bedrooms including the main bedroom with an en suite bathroom. On the second floor is an atrium style landing with storage cupboards leading to a family bathroom and three double bedrooms including one with a vaulted ceiling and panoramic views.

The garden is full of private seating areas, a wide front terrace and a large lawn surrounded by high trees and shrubs providing privacy and security.

What the Owner says:

We love Georgian houses and this is a wonderful family home but it is time to downsize. The location is excellent as we are close to the town centre with its supermarkets, shops, pubs and restaurants and walks along the Military Canal. It is not far from the beach and there is a swimming pool as well as golf, sailing, cricket, squash and tennis clubs. Good local primary schools are available and two excellent grammar schools in Folkestone with top class private schools available in Ashford, Canterbury and Dover. Sandling station not far away and it is less than an hour to London on the high speed train from Folkestone West or about 35 minutes from Ashford International, while the Channel Tunnel is close by.
