Description

Properties like this don't come onto the market very often. Ebblemead has been a much loved family home for decades; although in need of a little modernising, it will make a wonderful forever home for a family wanting to live in the country with all the benefits of being part of a community.

Built in the early 1980s, Ebblemead sits at the end of a no-through road in a quiet village location. The property was built by a local man and while the overall effect is modern, the detail of bay and dormer windows and stained glass window in the stairwell create character and give a nod to the cottage feel.

Homington is a small village near Coombe Bissett to the south west of Salisbury. The village is mentioned in the Doomsday book but the area has been occupied since Neolithic times. The village has a lovely mix of old country houses, including thatched cottages, as well as more modern properties. There is a church and pop-up facilities but the village of Coombe Bissett just over a mile away has a post office, village hall, school and the Fox and Goose pub, and Salisbury city centre is just 4 miles away.

On entering Ebblemead through a small porch, the first impression is of a property that it is light, bright and welcoming.

This feeling continues in the sitting room with its bay window overlooking the garden and a large fireplace with a working open fire. From the sitting room there are doors to the dining room and conservatory.

The 16' dining room has plenty of room for every day eating or large celebratory family meals with the conservatory acting as spill over space if necessary.

Accessed via the dining room, the kitchen is a wonderfully light room with windows front and rear. It has plenty of cupboards that now have a vintage vibe and has recently had a new oven installed. There is a separate utility area with space for a washing machine, separate dryer and additional freestanding appliances, as well as cupboard space and access to the side of the house.

Also on the ground floor there is a room currently used as an office, ideal for anyone working from home but it could equally be used as a hobby room, playroom or even an extra bedroom.

The conservatory can be accessed via the sitting room and the dining room and is a great place to enjoy the country setting whatever the weather. It has doors that open out to the garden and has lovely views across the meadows.

Upstairs there are three good sized bedrooms. The house was originally built as a four bedroom property but the current owners made changes to convert one of the bedrooms into an en-suite shower room and dressing area with a wall of built-in wardrobes to create a master suite.

Both of the other two bedrooms have built-in wardrobes, with bedroom 2 also benefitting from a dressing table/vanity unit with sink and drawer space.

The family bathroom has a shower, w/c and basin and is tiled floor to ceiling. There is a further w/c on the ground floor.

The south-facing back garden has fabulous views across open fields to the River Ebble, giving the impression that the garden extends farther than it actually does. It is a wonderfully tranquil place to sit and listen to the sounds of nature, enjoy a picnic on the lawn and simply relax.

At the front of the property there is plenty of parking on the gravel drive and there is a L-shaped garage with a workbench and storage in the eaves.
