Sellers Insight

Old Pearmain is a charming and traditional “black and white” timber frame house on the edge of pretty Eardisland village. The present owners first saw and liked the house, nestling into the lush and green Herefordshire countryside, when they were cycling around the village. The original house of smaller footprint than today is believed to date from about 1760. It can be found on early maps and was at one stage the home of the butler to nearby Burton Court estate. The house has been altered and extended over the years and the present owners have added a spacious and modern kitchen, living and dining area, which with its oak beams and twenty first century comfort and sophistication is a blending of old and new. It is the hub of the house, where the light flooded space has pretty views to the garden and the countryside beyond. It is especially beautiful in the early summer when the fields are a golden ocean of buttercups. It is perfect for both family relaxation and (truncated)

The lounge is part of the original building and is a room for all seasons. With the wood burner alight, it is a warm winter refuge and in summer gives cool respite from a hot day. Again, the windows exploit the views of the garden and beyond and the large bay gives the room an open and positive ambience. The house sits on a quiet country lane and the owners say their productive orchard opposite the house is also used for recreation and appreciated by the family and friends. There have been small family campfire parties, and it is also a calm and tranquil spot to simply sit and savour the natural world around you. The owners have maintained the country garden feel of the house garden. It is a delightful mix of lawn, mature plants and shrubbery. They have also created several gravelled sitting areas offering sun or shade at different times of day and season. A particular favourite is the ‘white wine patio’ to the lane side of the house where they can enjoy an evening (truncated)

It is an active and friendly village with a community shop, children’s allotment, an annual fun filled raft race on the river and various clubs and societies centred round the village hall and church. The village is equidistant from Ludlow and Hereford, both charming centres that offer weekly markets, independent shops, restaurants and annual festivals. Ludlow has a popular spring festival and an autumn food festival. The owners will miss the peace and quiet of Old Pearmain and its tranquil rural atmosphere that is so convenient for the local centres. They will also miss the open views which on occasion allow you to see a rainbow from end to end. They will take away many happy memories.
