The property dates back to the late 17th century and has 20th-century additions. The original part of the cottage is of a Wychert construction and has a thatched roof, re-ridged in 2017. Rose Cottage retains many period features including exposed beams, wooden latch and brace doors, and an inglenook fireplace with an inset bread oven. At the side and rear of the cottage are formal gardens with flower beds, patios and an open plan westerly facing summerhouse. On the easterly side of the plot are vegetable beds. Within the grounds are pathways through wild areas with scattered outbuildings, including a greenhouse, a fruit cage, a poly tunnel, sheds, and stores.

Situation and Schooling

Westcott has a C of E primary school with integrated preschool, St. Mary’s Church, a cricket club and the Waddesdon Deli and tea room. Waddesdon (2.8 miles), has schooling for all ages, GP and dental surgeries, restaurants, public houses, a local shop, a post office, and a network of public footpaths through the Rothschild Estate. Aylesbury (8.2 miles) has of shopping and social facilities, and grammar schools.
