Yapham is a small quaint village two and a half miles to the north of Pocklington. The village has a church and an active village hall. There are some wonderful walks and cycle routes close by.

Pocklington market town is close to hand less than five miles distant offering a wider range of amenities, cafes, restaurants, a health centre, dentist, leisure centre, cinema, post office, banks and supermarkets. There are also tennis, football, rugby and a cricket club. Kilnwick Percy Resort and Golf Club is situated just outside the town.

Pocklington School is a well-regarded private school taking pupils from ages 4–18 years and Woldgate School and Sixth Form (Academy). Queen Margaret's School for Girls is about 18.5 miles. Woldschild Montessori School, Warter (about 10.5 miles) has been voted in the top four in the country by Ofsted.

Stamford Bridge is about seven miles away, with a wide range of amenities, including a doctor’s surgery, veterinary clinic, local supermarket, post office, cafes, pubs, Chinese and Indian takeaways, hairdressers, butchers, florist and a primary school.
