Description

A very elegant two bedroom apartment with some 909 sq ft of accommodation converted on the raised ground floor of an impressive Grade II listed property which dates from the early 1800’s and situated at the eastern end of the attractive High Street.

One of seven apartments, no.4 is arguably one of the finest, benefitting from high ceilings, original tall sash windows and steps which lead directly onto the communal gardens. Access is from the communal entrance hall on the ground floor.

The accommodation includes a lovely sitting room/dining room with a bay window and tall ceilings which overlook the gardens to the rear and gives access to a practical, fitted kitchen which is equipped with a good range of fitted wall and floor units, electric ceramic hob, oven and extractor hood together with plumbing and space for a washing machine and dishwasher.

The main bedroom to the front of the building has high ceilings and tall windows, fitted wardrobes and a dresser and an en suite shower room with underfloor heating. The second bedroom is also large with a tall ceiling and windows and gives direct access to the communal garden. There is a further bathroom with panelled bath and shower over, wash hand basin & WC; there is access to a small loft area which houses the gas combination boiler. The entrance hall is a good size and a built-in cupboard provides useful storage space.

Outside
There is private parking and guest parking to the front of the building and beautifully maintained communal gardens to the rear which are accessed directly from the apartment or from the driveway to the side of the building.

Burwash is a highly regarded village – not least for its attractive tree-lined high street where many of the properties were built in the 18th, 17th and 16th centuries and has origins dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries. It has two pubs, a general store, a cricket club, all weather tennis courts, sports pavilion and playing field. There are also excellent schools in the area, including Burwash Primary School which has an Outstanding Ofsted rating. It is perhaps best known for the Grade I listed National Trust property, Batemans, where Rudyard Kipling lived between 1902 and 1936.

The nearby towns of Heathfield and Battle provide good shopping facilities and other services and slightly further afield, the larger towns of Tunbridge Wells (16 miles approx.), Hastings and Bexhill (15 and 13 miles respectively) provide a comprehensive range of services and amenities. Train services at Etchingham and Stonegate (3.3 miles and 3.5 miles) have a good service into London Bridge and Charing Cross.
