Description

Originally 19th-century barns, Wildshaw House was meticulously converted fifteen years ago. Its design masterfully combines traditional stone exteriors with the contemporary charm of vaulted ceilings and exposed steel beams. Sophisticated simplicity defines its interior, where expansive windows and French doors flood the space with natural light and offer picturesque views of the 4.85 acre landscaped gardens.

Imagine waking up in your spacious suite, sunlight streaming through the large windows. Start your day in the central living space, where atrium windows let in a cascade of natural light, perfect for a morning coffee or an evening read. The kitchen is a chef's dream, with burr oak cabinetry, granite countertops, and top-of-the-line appliances, including a Bertazzoni range cooker. Enjoy cooking and dining with views of the beautiful outdoors, then step out through the French doors to dine al fresco on one of the several Indian sandstone terraces. For relaxation and entertainment, the options are endless. Host gatherings in the double reception room, cozy up by the wood-burning stove, or enjoy a quiet evening by the fire pit in the garden.

The beautifully landscaped grounds, with their herbaceous borders, specimen shrubs, and kitchen garden, offer a colorful and serene backdrop year-round. Cool off in the unique swimming pool with its dark tiles, then lounge on the terrace shaded by a pergola adorned with grapevines. The property is perfectly designed for both privacy and convenience. Two ground-floor bedroom suites offer comfort and seclusion, ideal for guests or extended family. The principal suite on the first floor boasts a luxurious en-suite bathroom, a spacious dressing room with fitted wardrobes, and a private study that could double as a nursery.

Approach your home via a private lane, leading to a tree-lined gravel driveway through an electric five-bar gate, ensuring security and exclusivity. The extensive parking area, along with a detached three-bay oak-framed garage, provides ample space for multiple vehicles. Wildshaw House offers more than just a residence; it's an opportunity to embrace a lifestyle of elegance, comfort, and natural beauty. Explore the nearly three-acre paddock, now a wildflower meadow with winding paths, perfect for leisurely walks and enjoying the rich natural habitat. Whether you're hosting grand celebrations or seeking peaceful solitude, Wildshaw House is the perfect sanctuary to experience the best of countryside living.

Location Guide

The village of Cowden is a gem in semi-rural Kent and only a stone’s throw from both the Surrey and West Sussex borders. Close to amenities that the local towns of Edenbridge, Tunbridge Wells and East Grinstead provide. There are multiple train stations only a short drive away and two farm shops within five minutes - one on the Markbeech road at Falconhurst and another on the Hartfield road.

The village has a thriving social scene - cricket, tennis, at least two riding schools, a book club, horticulture society, conservation society, a very popular summer fete and bonfire night event, the beautiful village church and the atmosphere-packed pub that is the hub of the community. There are two golf courses on the doorstep and plenty of walks from the village that show off the best of the Kent countryside.

There are plenty of schooling choices including the much sought after outstanding Chiddingstone Primary, Edenbridge Primary plus a host of villages schools such as Hever, Four Elms, Chiddingstone, Crockham Hill and Lingfield. For private schooling there is Ashdown House School, Holmewood House School, Solefiled School, Sevenoaks Prep School, Walthamstow Hall and Combe Bank to mention but a few.
