New Cumnock has interesting local walks in the area including the Knockshinnoch Lagoons which go round a 130-hectare Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve. New Cumnock is also home to one of the only remaining freshwater outdoor swimming pools in the UK. There is a primary school and nursery in the village also new high school and lots of shopping in nearby Cumnock and Auchinleck.
Ayrshire is renowned for many golf courses, it’s racecourse in Ayr and excellent yachting facilities at the Marina in Troon. Dumfries House Estate ( 9 miles) is one of Britain’s most beautiful stately homes, with lovely walled gardens and coffee house. Auchinleck Estate (12 miles) has a popular coffee shop within the estate grounds plus riverside walks.
