Description

Understood to have 15th century origins with later additions, Winser Farmhouse is a traditional Wealden Farmhouse, justifiably Grade II Listed and presenting elevations of warm brick exposed timber with colour-washed infill and tile hung elevations under a hipped Kent peg tiled roof.

The property retains its period ambience with a rich variety of architectural features, displaying a host of original period details that includes a splendid king post, inglenook and open fireplaces, impressive beams and timbers, wide oak floor-boards and exposed brick floors along with leaded light and casement windows.

Accommodation is laid out on three floors which is well proportioned and enhanced by copious windows and good ceiling heights throughout. Of particular note is the elegant dining room which offers a handsome period fireplace along with moulded dado rail and coving.

The front gardens are mainly laid to lawn with a planted border of flowering shrubs to one side and a magnificent ancient checker tree to the other. The brick pathway wraps around the house and a small brook runs through the garden providing a haven for local wildlife. A terrace to the rear provides an excellent spot for outdoor entertaining and the gardens and grounds are well stocked with a variety of established flowering shrubs along with mature indigenous trees and shrubs that punctuate the landscape.
