Gavdos is an island with an area of only 30 square kilometers but with countless beautiful beaches. Sarakiniko is one of the two large beaches of the island that can be reached directly by car. There are routes from the port of Sfakia or Paleochora almost daily all year round and more regularly during the summer. In ancient times there were villages and temples on the island. Today there are less than 100 permanent residents while in the past there were about 400. The Cape Tripiti of Gavdos is the southernmost point of the European continent. On the island, the visitor can find rooms to rent, camping sites and taverns.
